This project aims to make health information more accessible for individuals with sensory impairments by creating videos that are universally designed. By focusing on inclusivity, we strive to ensure that essential health content reaches everyone, regardless of ability.<\/strong> The videos will made available on Helsenorge<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Universally designed videos<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A lot of healthcare videos for patients lack universal design, which prevents important information from reaching certain target groups, such as individuals who need sign language interpretation, visual descriptions, or captions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We will produce a series of videos featuring health-related content specifically designed for individuals with sensory impairments, including those with hearing or vision loss and sign language users. To achieve true universal design, we will also address potential cognitive challenges. The videos will be made available on Norway’s national online health service, Helsenorge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Best practices for digital accessibility<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Throughout the production process, we will document our experiences and develop practical guidelines to help others create digitally accessible and universally designed videos effectively. Our aim is to establish best practices that can be widely adopted to improve the accessibility of digital health content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our approach uses incremental co-creation by involving users in an agile development process. This method allows for continuous refinement based on user feedback, which will lead to more efficient and accessible solutions over time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The benefits of inclusive health information <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Inclusive health information ensures that people with sensory impairments have equal access to essential services and resources. This approach is expected to improve health literacy, empower individuals to manage their own health more effectively, and enhance patient safety. Furthermore, fostering greater self-reliance will reduce financial costs for both individuals and society over time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
