To meet the challenges posed by climate change, both accurate climate modeling and effective scientific communication are essential. In the EU-funded project Impetus4Change (I4C)<\/em>, we are collaborating with leading climate scientists from across Europe. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project has two main objectives:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Improved climate projections at the local scale<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    We work to enhance climate projections that describe how the climate will change, both globally and locally. A key focus is on near-term climate change, meaning changes expected over the coming decades. This type of information is crucial for enabling smaller cities and regions to plan and implement effective climate adaptation measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    2. Improved communication of climate information<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Just as important as producing reliable climate projections is the ability to communicate the results in a way that is understandable and useful for decision-makers. This can provide them with a better understanding of how weather and climate may change, the uncertainties of the climate projections, the potential impacts at both global and local scales, and how different mitigation and adaptation measures may influence those changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    I4C focuses specifically on four European cities: Bergen<\/strong>, Barcelona<\/strong>, Paris<\/strong>, and Prague<\/strong>. In these cities, we work closely with local research communities and decision-makers to identify which types of information are most useful, and how this information can best be communicated and applied, both in the near future and in the long run.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
