What’s it like to work at the Norwegian Computing Center?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Norwegian Computing Center has four research departments and an administration. Our researchers work in fields ranging from statistical modelling, machine learning and image analysis to digital security, Earth observation and inclusive technology. Across all our work, we combine strong scientific expertise with real-world problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our researchers often work on several projects simultaneously and collaborate closely with colleagues and clients across disciplines and sectors. The breadth of our expertise and its applications makes for varied working days and provides excellent opportunities to apply and develop skills by tackling new challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The department develops statistical and stochastic models to describe geological relationships and quantify risk and uncertainty. Its work includes petroleum reservoir modelling and risk assessment in the energy sector.<\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/svg>\n\t\t\t\tApplied research in information and communication technology\n\t\t\t\t\t

The department conducts research on digitalisation, emergency preparedness and digital inclusion. Its work focuses on the interaction between people, technology and processes, with the aim of developing solutions that work in practice.<\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/svg>\n\t\t\t\tStatistical modelling and machine learning\n\t\t\t\t\t

The department develops statistical models and machine-learning methods that provide deeper insights into different types of data. Its researchers work in areas including forecasting, risk analysis, language technology and explainable artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/svg>\n\t\t\t\tImage analysis and Earth observation\n\t\t\t\t\t

The department develops and adapts algorithms for detection, classification, characterisation and object recognition in image and sensor data. Its work combines image analysis, machine learning, deep learning and physical models, with applications in areas including healthcare, marine environments and transport.<\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

The administration comprises the CEO and CFO as well as support functions in accounting, IT, HR and communications. Its work is closely connected to the research activities and includes day-to-day operations, project follow-up, research communication and technical support.<\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\n\n\n
