Adaptive Security for the Internet of Things Reference Model

While the Internet of Things (IoT) is a dynamic network of interconnected things, concepts for adaptive security can be applied to this dynamic environment. Significant research has been conducted separately in these domains, but gaps and challenges remain. In this paper, we survey the IoT layers based on the ITU-T reference model. We classify adaptive security approaches from the literature with the ITU-T reference model. The mapping highlights the suitability of adaptive security mechanisms to secure IoT environments and highlights several issues and observations that can serve as reference knowledge in these research domains.
