We present research directions for social cues and emotions in human-robot interaction. The background is to develop new user interfaces for robotics-empowered devices used in the application areas of health and welfare. This research note gives an overview of technologies that can be used to facilitate man-robot interaction that is based on social cues, emotions, and recognition of intentions.
